Remembering Sam
We're taking a moment here to remember a friend from the SouthernPRIDE Teen Board, to mark a place for him. This is his place. His name is Sam. Where he lives is not so important as why we put these words here for him. Sam has gone through a lot of pain in the last 5 years, yet he remains strong and wants to leave something good in this world. You wonder what is wrong with Sam? He's 13 years old and it's likely he'll die within weeks of this publication. Sam doesn't want you to cry for him. He wants to be remembered by having people try to be more understanding to each other. He hopes that you'll think next time you see someone that is different, or that has a ‘disease'... that you think about how they feel, and maybe either say something nice or nothing at all. He hopes you won't turn
away from them when they need friendship and support the most. The difference can be AIDS, it can be sexuality, it can be color, nationality or so many other things. The difference isn't important, only the person is. Sam asks that if you feel any sorrow for his pain, not to feel sorry for him, but instead to remember him by being kind to others. This is the legacy that this 13 year old would leave — the hope that time will help people to be more understanding to each other.
These words below are from Sam:
Present Day:
Well here I am writing this. It's the 29th of December. Lying in bed, well not really, I'm in a computer room in a hospital
...sitting down.
The Thank You's And Goodbye's:
- I'd like to thank Gail and Fintan the most for caring so much about me.
- Thank you to Hanson (if they read this) for keeping me occupied in this O so dull hospital with their music.
- Another thank you to Gail, Reyna and Michelle. Thank you for giving me a more caring home than my foster home which is the Teens
Board.
- Thank You to both Good Guy hacking groups (if they read this) for letting me be a part of the group hope you win the war against
LOD and the rest of them it'd bring a bit of peace after the war is over to the internet and the coalition will keep the peace
on-line.
- Thank you to anyone that has ever been to the board for making this feel like home for me.
- And a final goodbye to everyone in the world even if they've never heard of Sam aka Seagull and goodbye to this life even
though it wasn't very nice to me.
Fintan and Gail will tell you when I have died
Seea! For the very last time.
Seagull aka Sam
Sam died January 11, 1998 about 09:00 (Spain) May his soul find peace and may he be remembered with thoughts of kindness to
others. For those of you that wonder, the alien is not meant to be disrespectful, it is a fun aggravation/joke that was shared
between Sam and others on the teenboard during his last days with us. We've put this one here specially for Sam. - Click on it (if you can see it) and you'll understand *smile*
