It's amazing sometimes to see just how much someone can do when the desire is strong enough. The south is filled with individuals and organizations that exist for no other purpose than to help others.
Southerners are quick to respond to needs too. I was personally reminded of this warm helping attitude this summer when a harsh storm swept through our area. Upon returning home I discovered the neighbors tree had been blown over into my yard. You would think such a sight would be a horror to return to, but it wasn't. There, among the debris, were neighbors from age 6 - 40, picking up the pieces and cleaning our yards in the rain. It was actually funny. Several of them were soaking wet but they didn't care. A job needed doing and they all chipped in to do their best to prevent any more damage to my home while I was gone.
It's this attitude to help others that carries over into some of our volunteer organizations. This desire to help is what makes the organizations work.
We've spot lighted just a couple of these special organizations to show the difference that one person can make when they reach out to help others.
