The Hunt
Bronze sculpture by Eugene Spalding Schoonmaker

The Hunt, Bronze sculpture by Eugene Spalding Schoonmaker A striding hunter turns backward, lifting a horn to his lips, while with his right hand he grasps a deer leaping forward beside him. A short cloak falling from his shoulders and a spreading plant under the deer's body round out the composition, with its spirited movement and interesting play of diagonals. The treatment of the surface is moderately simplified and the hair and drapery folds stylized. The group has also been given the title Actaeon.
