Two Kids
Lead sculpture by Oronzio Maldarelli
A boy leans sidewise, braced against one foot, his hand to the head of a kid which rears in the opposite direction, so that their bodies make a pattern of diagonals. In the other hand the boy holds a bunch of grapes. The crisply stylized curls of his hair are bound with a fillet. The edges of the goat's hair are patterned in low relief. The formal design and ornamental treatment of details give this group a decorative quality.

Oronzio Maldarelli
Born in Naples, Italy, about the year 1892
He was the son of a goldsmith, Michael Maldarelli. Oronzio received his art education by attending evening classes in the schools of the National Academy of Design and Cooper Union, where he studied drawing and painting, and the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design, for sculpture.
