Southern Ambassador
"Chessie's Charleston Tour"

The luminous Carolina sun is rising and the seagulls are singing, while the waves are crashing against the Morris Island Light House.

In the depths of the Atlantic, near the Morris Island Light House, Chessie, the manatee is enjoying his Charleston tour. Chessie's journey began in Florida. swimming up the coast and stopping in Charleston to dine on greens in Hobcaw Creek, near Mt. Pleasant. After breakfast, he is taking in the historical sights of Morris Island and the Charleston Harbor.

The sun's rays extend across the water as a symbol of the many people who are extending their love and support to save the manatee. As a result of this love and support, many habitats provide protection from boats and other human interferences. This interference has reduced the population of these sirens of the sea to around a thousand. These mysterious "sea cows" have become an endangered species because their coastal habitat is being altered and destroyed by human beings.

May Southern Ambassador be your reminder of the plight of the manatee. so you will extend your love and support to this gentle giant, saving this most lovable creature from the brink of destruction.
