House Pet
by: Tammy Renee Beers

One day Sam was in the hallway waiting for her brother Max to get out of the bathroom.
"Get out!" Said Sam.
"Wait!" Said Max. While Sam was waiting the phone rang. Sam ran and picked it up.
"I got it!" Yelled Sam.
"OK!" Said her mom.
"MOM! It's for you!" When her mom got there she went back up stairs in the hallway of the bathroom. When she got there Max was out of the bathroom.

While Sam was brushing her teeth she looked out the window. It was a sunny day today. Then she looked down. Almost everyone had a pet. She wondered. They didn't have a pet. Just then Max came in.

" Time to eat!" He yelled. "OK!" I said.

I ate all my food and went out to play. I played with Billy. He has a dog named Spot and a cat named BooBoo. We played with the ball. And Sam asked her mom if they could go swimming in her backyard. They walked Billy's dog. She really wanted a pet. That night Sam's mom called her in.

"It's time to eat. Wash your hands."

At dinner Sam said, "Mom, can I have a pet?"

Well her mom never knew she wanted one. After dinner she had a talk with her mom and dad about it. Her mom and dad said she could. But it had to be little and it had to be sweet.

"How about a fish!" She said hopefully.
"Well," her mom said, "It has to be part Max's. And he has to like it to."

"Mine too!" He was listening the whole time.

"How about a snake!" He said hopefully.

"No way!" I yelled. "How about a hamster!"
"OK!"
Said Max.
So the next day they got up very happy. They ran to the bathroom, brushed their teeth and ran down stairs to eat.

Then they all went straight to the pet shop. They looked at dogs, cats, fish and then they got to the birds and then the hamsters.

"That one! With the black spot."
So they got him. And they named him Dino. They fed Dino every day. They made sure he was always clean. One day their Uncle Jim and his wife Cindy and their children Susan and Charlie came to visit. They all get along very well. They showed them their hamster. The next day they all left.

"Goodby!" Yelled Sam and Max.
"Bye!" they yelled back.
That day they played with Billy. They went upstairs to see the hamster. It was dead. That day they all had a funeral for Dino. They made cards for him. And they all wore black and wore flowers. It was sad. But the next day they went back and got a new hamster.

The End
